No. But I would be cautious. There are a lot of flat fee real estate companies out there who will simply but a sign up, put in MLS, and pray that the home will sell- you can do that on your own. A good real estate company will provide you marketing exposure and work proactively to sell your home. And DON'T pay the money upfront. Make them earn your money. There are a lot of companies that just want your money upfront- offer few services and have no incentive to helping you sell your home. The stats on these companies is that 80% of the homes will not sell and will ist with a traditional company- but the customer is already out the money!Ask the agent for their market stats- how long their homes are on market, what percentage of their homes sell, and so forth. Ask for references! If you don't get the answer you like-- keep looking!

"You get what you pay for!"Don't expect much. I work on a percentage basis and have been known to take clients to the airport among many of the thing I do.If houses sold themselves then Realtors would not exist. If Newpapers and Magazine advertisements sold houses then Realtors would not exist. Less than 10% of the agents do the majority of the business. It's about networking, connecting an putting people together. The National Association of Realtors has reported that 400,000 member have yet to sell a home this year. That is close to 1/3 of the membership. Ted MackelRealtorSimi Valley, CA

Beware! Real Estate is very cut-throat and a lot of real estate "professionals" will advise you against Flat Fee Brokers simply out of spite. A lot of "full-service" (full fee MLS) brokers are poor at selling homes, it isn't specific to flat-fee brokers, trust me. That being said, I am a full-service Broker that has seen flat-fee business models succeed. There are a lot of questions to ask ANY real estate professional, regardless of their business model. Ask for a written marketing plan. Ask for 12 month individual (not company) sales stats. Interview several other agents and compare. Ask for and check up on references. Do you see a lot of their signs? Most importantly, do they have a strong web presence? Does this fee include MLS (Multiple Listing Service) insertion and if so, how much of that $2,500 is being offered to a Buyer Broker if they bring the buyer? Depending on your current market conditions, MLS insertion might not be necessary, but regardless, you do need the advice and guidance of an experienced professional for the paperwork and related closing process... good luck!
