I am Christian and I sincerely believe in God.I put everything in front of God and am ready to sacrifice everything for my God. But whenever I go to church I feel like I have to feel guilty all the time not only because the belief wakes up my reflection on how much I am sinful and my Lord had to die in order to save us, but also because I am woman so as many of Christian already know, the Biblical theory teaches Christians that gender roles are different between men and women. It leads me to keep trying to brainwash myself that I am woman who needs to support and submit to, and obey men because Bible says so. I suppose many of you, my brothers and sisters would probably tell that what the Biblical gender role emphasizes is, I obey men so thus men will take care of me. But, yeah, I'd rather want to be more significant and responsible person than a passive submissive woman staying home to support men and raise children. I think high confidence and self-esteem is important. Am I wrong?Non-Christians, I really do not care about you all, and I understand your reluctance to this question. But, can you please skip this question and mind other questions. It will be so thankful if you just leave me alone waiting for the appropriate answers. Thanks. You need to see a psychiatrist. And by "you", I mean all Christophiles. You just described a very serious emotional problem in which a person derives pleasure from feeling guilty. It's definitely not healthy.

My only advice is this: Never let something as trivial as religion make you change who you are and/or who you want to be. You are not wrong at all. There isn't much that is more important than your view of yourself being positive.

You have no need to submit to any man. Respect them until they give you a reason not to. God wants us-all of us to be free and happy, so if having a education and job makes you happy that is great. I would just not be so guilty unless breaking the 10 Commandments.

No. For example, let's say you hurt someone's feelings by refusing to follow their lead into wrong conduct. That is nothing to feel guilty about.

The only thing that is wrong is that, having recognized the deficiencies of Christianity, you haven't dumped it as a bad job. There is no reason to believe in any of the Christian baggage -- god, sin, redemption, and so on -- it is all nonsense.

Yes, your husband is the only man who you are required to 'obey' not any other. If your church is spending time making you feel guilty you are going to the wrong church. I don't think you are a Christian though I think you are a troll posing as a Christian.

Feeling guilty is good when you are guilty. It brings you under conviction. But feeling guilty when you have nothing to feel guilty for can be unhealthy.

Guilt is a useless emotion and it is not healthy. Furthermore, there is no reason that a woman can't be a leader and be self-sufficient.

You are not wrong. In fact, you are very, very right. It is important to follow the teachings of the Bible, self-esteem and confidence are also very important. God wants you to spread his word, and if you are spending all your time being subservient to a man, you aren't going to accomplish that. At the time that the Bible was written, gender roles were very different. At the time the Bible was written there was no indoor plumbing, computers, or telephones. Just because those things didn't exist then doesn't mean that they are wrong now. Don't let the fact that independent women didn't exist in the time of the Bible discourage you from being one now. Personally, and though it is probably too forward of me to say this, I feel that if my Church were teaching this I would go and find another congregation to worship with. Just my honest opinion.
