Well if your friends is the president of the united states then just call an agent or the bookmakers. Otherwise its better to learn how to write for him self since ghost writers is mostly for famous people that whants to write books about their life/experience but arent so good writers. Its eq not for any one that feels that they have ideas... Its also fairly expensive so the bookmakers want give that kind of money unleash they except a great profit. Johan

I'm a writer, (seriously), and the going rate is about 50,000 UKP. (That's also not joking.)

I could suggest several, but it's hard from your description. Is it a memoir? If so what kind? Where are you based? All things are essential before you embark on anything like this

Don't listen to all these discouraging and frankly, wrong responses. The truth is, you can easily get a writer to 'ghost write' a book for you. It's safe to say, that a writer with a better portfolio will demand a higher rate but because so many writers are starving artists, you can always find a bargain. Now, once the book is written, you still must jump through all the hoops every writer encounters along the publishing process. Will a ghost writer insure your friend's book will be published? Not necessarily. The writing may be better than what your friend can accomplish on his/her own but the publishing business is tough. Still, a ghost writer can help your friend's project get into the shape it needs to be in to be seriously considered for publication. Now, where to find a ghost writer. Look online at writer's websites like editred.com. A lot of great writers there. Also, trade publications like Writers and Poets have classifieds that advertise writer's services like ghost writing. Stay away from Reader's Digest styled mags. No good, no way. Maybe an MFA student will be willing to take on the job.In short, I'd remind you to tell your friend, someone can always be hired to do this work and if he/she is willing to do some of the work, it could be a rewarding effort. If your friend has the resources than why not? Good luck and happy writing.
