| There is no customary fee... submitting your site to the search engines is free:www.google.com/addurlsubmit.search.yahoo.comhttp://search.msn.com.sg/docs/submit.aspxI learned a lot in the forums of SEO sites like highrankings.com and searchenginewatch.com... |

| To be honest, it is not necessary to submit your site to search engines. They will automatically find your site via their 'robots', 'crawlers' and 'spiders' (automatic programs that scour the www and return websites for their database). This will happen if your site has at least one link from another site, such as a directory or a recipricated link from a site that compliments yours.Directories, on the other hand, are mostly human powered - they don't rely on the auto. programs. Because of this, a directory will not know your site exists unless you submit to it manually. Such big and powerful directories are: Yahoo and DMOZ. There are many, many free-to-submit directories.Your site probably is in the search engine databases, aka, indexed by the search engines. Have you typed the URL of your site in the search engines? If it comes up, then it has been indexed. If not, the search egine probably has not yet found your site.Don't confuse "not submitted' with "not found". Often, someone thinks their site is not in the search engines because they cannot locate it when they enter the appropriate keywords. This site probably has been indexed, but not found for a variety of reasons: not enough SEO, improper SEO, wrong keywords, competetive keywords, not enough backlinks (to name a few reasons).Make sure you do proper SEO, provide quality content that your readers like and share, and get your site linked to other sites. These three main steps will aid in getting better search engine traffic. |
