Hi everybody, i have a question on what is the common policy on weekly rates.Say, a vacation rental offers a rate policy of 100$ per night and $560 per week. If a renter makes a booking of 10 nights, what is the common policy to calculate the end price?a) 1*$560 + 3*100$ = $860or b) 1*$560 + 3*($560/7)) = $800Thanks a lot for your kind help ...theplatform06

In a similar situation, rental car companies will charge a weekly rate and then additional days beyond the week are charged the daily rate. Obviously this generates the most money for them.

Most rentals, including my own, have a minimum number of nights required for a stay. There is a nightly rate for a length of stay such as 6 to 14 nights are at one rate, 14-21 nights at a lower rate... Shorter stays are adjusted upwards, with 5 nights adding $15 per night and 4 nights adding $20 per night to the 6 night minimum stay rate. This allows you to cover fixed expenses such as cleaning fees which would normally be spread out over the length of the stay. Shorter stays require those expenses to be condensed into fewer nights. This is much easier to work with than figuring nights at different rates.
