I know ive heard alot bad talk on the news right now about the housing industry and how bad things are right now in real estate and how countrywide just took 11billion dollars out in loans. But yet they just built this huge new shiny building in my town and are hiring HEAVILY in my area. They are hiring so heavily they are hiring me with just 4 years of retail experience and the requirments for this position required a bachelors degree in finance or economics and 3-5 years of real estate experience. They are offering me 2000/month base salary and commission ontop of that. Which they tell me some of the guys there have easily made over 10,000 a month with hard work and dedication. How can I say no to a job like this? And if the company goes into bankruptcy what will happen to someone at my position? The company just doesnt shut down does it? I need your advices on this please! And if anyone out there has experience as a loan officer with countrywide let me know your advice!

CW is going under. They just want warm bodies and numbers out of their AE's. The more they hire the better the odds (for them) of making money. I find it hard to believe they guarantee a base salary in this market and with their particular woes right now, but my advice would be to take it and keep circulating your resume. You will need it!Most brkoers are closing their doors and running away. I personally think Countrywide is to hard to deal with so I can't remember he last time I called our CW rep. You may feel like the Maytag repairman, but hey, while you are looking for something else you might as well collect the base. (If that's true)

The loan is a great thing and the fact that they GOT the loan even better! It was a relief to me to hear that the industry thinks that they are in good enough shape to loan money! They will survive the "crisis". Our loan people are keeping close watch on all of the bumps in the money road right now and they say that all of this was predicted years ago. Loans were made that should never have been done but, people get greedy. Hopefully the ones who helped create this mess are now well and truly out of the business so those with some integrity can help the rest of us stay in our chosen fields. It is a good business; Some chose to practice in a way that may be hurtful in the shortrun when a loan is denied or postponded but, people need to understand that there has been way to much playing loose with the money in this country and it's time to scale it back and earn a home. Waiting and longing are good things it gives us all a sense of satisfaction when we finally earn our dreams. Anticipation is good. Too many young people today just reach out and try to take that which they can't afford and their families end up hurt badly because of it. Good luck with your choices sounds like the base is pretty good.

Good luck, when you get your paycheck run to the bank and cash it.Countrywide has sever financial concerns, one day you may find out that your bank won't cash your check.

Many institutions like Countrywide are starting to go under.Countrywide being one of the best known organizations in the field are still pulling through. Alot of Countrywide's smaller competitors are actually hoping for Countrywide to stay in business because if the giant goes under, what hope do they have?I know several Loan Officers that currently work with Countrywide who are doing rather well. Some not so good. It really depends on you as an individual whether you'll go far or stay behind with this company. I worked with them for quite some time and did alright, I found a new job in the field that I wanted at the time so I stopped working full time with them. I still work part-time with Countrywide on occassion. Either way take the job, if it works out great if it doesn't at least you gained some experience and can move on.

I am currently being hired as an Account Executive for the same company. As long as you have a clean background anyone can get this job with a high school diploma. So don't feel to special about getting the job. But on the postive side yes it's true you will start off at a 2,000 a month base + commision but as time goes on within i think the 4th month ur base salary will be 1,400 a month and you will still be getting commission. Now don't forget this is a 60+ hour a week job you better bust your behind to close some loans to make ur commission. Yes, I know some guys who have been doin the same job and making 10,000 a month and sometimes over as long as you bust your behind. Now for as Countrywide's financial situation, I personally think they will pull out of it... The goverement will not let the #1 Mortgage Lender go Bankrupt. Simple as that, they only borrowed that 11.5 billion to save themselves from the market being so bad. But yeah don't sweat it, if something did happen I mean atleast you'll have experience in the field and you can find another job.Hope this helped!
