I read somewhere about a saltwater fish that changes sex. The groups are usually led by one male, with the rest of the group being a 'harem' of females. When the male dies, the most dominant female changes sex and becomes a male. A lot of fish do that, but the one I'm looking for actually changes its looks when it changes gender. If I remember correctly, the males were very brightly coloured, while the females were drab. Problem is, I CAN'T FIND IT. And I know it exists. If you have any information, please help me out. Thanks.

they have them in Catalina in California. When the male dies the females have a competition. The one with the biggest mouth wins... kind of weird yet cool

Most parrot fish have the ability to change sex and color while juveniles. Most males are brightly colored while the females are more drab. the exception being the Mediterranean parrot fish (Sparisoma cretense).
