| Where you are located is very important to answering this question. If in southern california contact Tarbell realtors and they will kick start your career for you. Remember the RE market right now is very iffy. So don't expect to pull this off without several years work with a long learning curve. It can be very rewarding though.Check your local newspapers classified ads section under Real Estate. You will find companys looking for entry level employees. good luck |

| I admire your ambitions. In the great majority of states/commonwealths, you must have a real estate sales person's license to sell or rent real estate. Here's what I suggest you do:1] Believe me, you'll have PLENTY of distractions, PLEASE leave your child at home or with a trusted relative or friend.2] After 9:30 AM and before 2:00 PM, with pens and paper, get in your vehicle and ride or "tour" the area or neighborhoods where you want to concentrate your efforts.3] Make notes of ALL the real estate signs you see, totgether with addresses, names and phone numbers of the agents. You should begin to see a pattern developing. One to five of those agents names or those offices names will be repeatedly seen. These ARE the folks you want to make contact with. You want THE BUSIEST, most active sales person and office in that area or those neighborhoods. Those folks already made many of their mistakes and know what they are doing and how they did it and how they are continuing to be successful.Call the most active one or two agents or offices. Inform them what you want to do and ask him or her to join you for lunch. Do this for each person. DO NOT make this a group meeting. At the time of your meeting and lunch, "pick their brains". Ask as many of the many important Qs which come to your mind. (((You might want to use some of the Qs I put in this answer to help you get the answers you might be interested in having answers to.)))A] What caused you to decide real estate was the business for you?B] How long have you been in the business?C] Did you have to take courses or a test to get your license?C1] Where and with whom did you take those courses?D] Tell me what you like about the business?E] Tell me what you don't like about the business?F] Do you have mentors or role models who helped you?G] What did you try or do which proved to be unsuccesful?H] What did you do which helped you become successful?I] If you had it to do all over again, with the knowledge of what you know today, what would you do different?J] Is there something you would like to try to do or do which might help you continue to become more successful.K] Any other information you would like to share with me?L] Would you please tell me everything you know anbout the business?M] If I decided real estate was my chosen field, would you teach me and be my mentor? There are others which you could ask, but I think I did a pretty good job of "leading you to the water". Now its up to you to drink. Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed taking the time to answer it!VTY,Ron BerueYes, that is my real last name! |

If it makes you feel better I am 24 and have my license and have been selling new homes since I was 22 It doesn't matter what your age is as long as you are professional. Keep in mind it takes a lot of money to start up a resale business and you should have substantial amount of funds to cover costs and slow months. Try getting in with a new home builder since there are no start up costs, but the schedule is very demanding (as in resale) so it might be hard with having small children but people do it. You make commission just as in resale, its a smaller amount but more houses are available to you. I sell about 4-5 houses a month (currently in this market in California)...but my percentage is less than what you would get from resale. So there are ups and downs to both types of selling.Good luck! |

From there you can start researching what it will take to make your dream a reality. Hope I helped. |

| If you are looking for a career in real estate but don't have the ability to work without a paycheck, try working for a successful real estate agent as an assistant. |
