| C4 have just claimed, in a programme about identity theft, that you could get 10 years for stealing someone's rubbish. Surely this is nonsense? If a bin is left in a public area i.e. the street then it's contents are fair game. And I live in a block of 15 apartments with communal bins - theft of our rubbish would make an interesting court case. Innit. |

| I think its not the rubbish itself but the personal info that they steal that is the subject of the law. |
