| Dad had two strokes in July and he's finally 'ready' to head south for the winter. After much ado, we've finally decided on Ft Myers, Fl. He does not want to stay in a hotel for three months or rent a condo until he gets to know the area - no, instead he's ready to jump right in with both feet and buy a home.Suggestions for a doctor (remember he had two strokes this year).Suggestions for a safe neighborhood, one where he can walk or ride his bike safely - maybe even be able to bike or walk to a store or something. While he doesn't need constant care, I'd like to be able to know that there are caregiver services out there - just in case he does need assistance sometime in the future.I've got him set up with a local Real Estate Agent already. Any other words of wisdom would be great - I'm just excited that he's chosen Ft Myers, because I can get a direct flight from BWI to head down there. |

| Hi! I live in the town next to Ft. Myers (Cape Coral) and there are plenty of nice neighborhoods in Ft. Myers. (the airport is right there too) I would stay away from Palm Beach Blvd. It really is not a nice area, anything downtown is not really nice or safe in my opinion. There are plenty of health agencies in the area as well as hospitals! |
