I have been offered a great job. They plan on sending me a card to take to a police department to get fingerprinted. I got in trouble when I was 14 for breaking and entering. I completed community service, paid restitution & went through mediation (when you sit down w/ the victim). I can not remember if I was fingerprinted. I was not arrested, went 2 station w/ parents.I am worried that they will take the job offer away if my name comes up in the system. Because of the type of industry the company is in, (I would be working w/ people's financial & personal info) I'm pretty sure a criminal background will make it impossible for me to work there. What do I do?My parents have told me not to worry because I paid restitution, did community service & went thru mediation so I would not have a record, but if my fingerprint was taken doesn't that automatically mean my name is in the system?Help please! What do I do? I start in 2 weeks. They will send the fingerprint card on Tuesday. This is in PennsylvaniaI am 21 now.

You have nothing to worry about.Unless you were waived in to adult court, any juvenile information does not need to be disclosed, and is not available to employers. I'm not sure what state you are from, but in Wisconsin, juvenile fingerprints are only submitted when they are waived in adult court. Otherwise, they are filed at the agency, and sealed with the rest of the record when the person becomes an adult. I would expect most states do something similar.

Juvenile records should be sealed when you turn 18...so nothing will show up unless you tell them.Don't worry about anything....kids mess up all the time....it's just what you do after you become an adult that stays with you.
