| One big reason you can't really answer this is if I own a home I am not interested in anyone knowing how much I think it is worth.Today on the news they showed a guy that bought a house several years ago for $100,000 and it is on the property tax records now for about $3,000,000. He believes he could sell it for much more actually but is going to donate to a trust so it can be preserved for historical reasons. How in the world would you count that in your figures? There are millions of stories that all would difficult to account for.But to come up with a figure you would need to add all the Tax assessment values together. In those states where the values are officially reported as a fraction of their real value you would need to adjust for that. There are thousands of Tax authorities you would need to check with and add them up. When you get done you would have to admit to yourself that the numbers are really made up but what the hey!As of January 2007 Texas has about nine million housing units according to the State of Texas Real Estate Center at Texas A&M. They estimate the nation had over 124 million housing units. Some of these are individual apartments. They say in Texas the owner occupied units averaged about $106000 in 2005. You have to believe the rented units would be worth less and the don't give a break down on how many units are owner occupied. |

| Approx 300 million people x 300k (home price). Research "gov" site for more accuracy. |
