......and was there plenty of seat space and legroom?, I wish to travel from London to San Francisco next year, and at 6' 5" economy will be unbearable, Business class and first class fares are out of the question, but this new 'premium' economy seems quite a reasonable fare......

We travelled to Amsterdam on premium, although not quite the same as going all the way to Sanfranciso it was really good. The seating was huge and the food was superb. We had a problem on the way back and the plane was delayed whilst we were seated and the pilot came out to chat to us all.Definately recommend it.

Yes, from Heathrow to Phoenix and back and I found it to be a real waste of money but that was in part because we were sat right by the galley so we had to put up with a lot of noise.Should have gone economy and spent the money in Vegas instead.

Yes, frequently. The seats are wider than in economy and recline more. The cabin is smaller (in front of economy, behind Business) and so usually much quieter (screaming child can never be predicted!!)There is also more space between the rows of seats (pitch). Economy BA, United, Virgin: 31 inchesEconomy American Air: 34 inchesPremium Economy BA: 38 inchesVirgin Atlantic also has premium economy with 38 inch seat pitch.Food is the same as in economy class, but you get served first so can get on with sleeping/watching a film
