| My mother has a property issue that is 70 years old that I would like to clear up before she dies and the property is lost to our family. It was her mothers home on the island of Lemnos in Greece that no one in the family has ever seen. There is proof that it igsists but exactly where on the island it is located no one is sure. I need a contact on the island or mainland that can locate this properties location and arrange for me to go there and see it to determine what should be done with it. I have some info to help get started but do not speak Greek and need bi lingual representation when I get there. Any ideas on what this would cost would be very helpful. I know the travel costs but need legal and translator costs. Thanks |

| Hm... tricky one my friend. They can charge you anything, especially if they understand you are a foreigner and does not know much about Greek reality. Then be sure that it will cost you an arm and a leg... If I was in your shoes, I would try the closest Greek community to my city. Ask there for more info. Also, you should know that several Greek communities in the US are organized according to their place of origin (e.g. Hepirus, Macedonia, Mani, etc.). I'm sure there must be a Lemnos community somewhere! There you will be able to find US residents that probably have families in the island and they will able to provide you with more info and even a local guide/translator/intermediate.As a final resort, I would try a lawyer office in mainland (don't expect to find many of them in small islands...). Here are some lawyer offices links from Greece, Athens. There you can find phones and emails. I hope they help!http://www.lykourezoslawoffices.gr/web/default.fdswww.sitemaker.gr/haritoskwww.papatrecha.grFinally, I think I can personally help you with translation (but only translation) if you think that is necessary. |
