All my money is growing with investments (smart enough not to touch it either). But i am confused about what to do in life. I never felt that continuing school was right for me so im getting an associates in business management. I want to get into business for myself (franchising, partnerships, real estate, etc, etc) its what i've always been interested in (work place just feels like the place for me). What would you do if you were me? I might get my associates and try to get into the business world... or i might just get into a local 4 year university thats on the easier side and ride out the college degree (which i'm dreading). I want to work for myself but everyone tells me to get a degree to fall back on. I have to decide soon and its bothering me almost every day. I talk to school counselors, my parents, and my friends... and no one really has a direction for me to go in besides "It's really up to you". What are you opinions?

I would get a degree. If you seriously want to go into business for yourself, you need business knowledge. Get an education, it's something you'll always have and no one can take away from you. Good luck!

Business is one of the worst degrees I think personally. If you have that much money you might wanna play the stalk markets. Why would you persue something that you know is going to suck for you anyhow? College isn't for everybody, and going just to go is a waste of time and money. Do what you think is wise, but don't just waste money for nothing, think it through and use your resources in the way that most behooves you.

I suggest you do the sort of work, or start the sort of business, that you would have wished to do before you had that $800,000.And try to avoid getting robbed by 'friends' or women next year!

you should know your opportunity cost to decide. What if you go in business now? What if you study ur 4 yrs. course? what do you think will happen? if you start ur own business and office invest your $800,000 without any degree and lets say that ur business grow, well that's good. because if it is growing your money will not just doubled or tripled. But as a businessman or an entrepreneur you are a risk taker, and what if you risk so big and you fail. then suddenly your $800K lost? what will you do? so now if you study in a good university using your 800K - i think that's enough to support you for your 4 yr course - you can still earn that much or bigger than that. the good thing is your education is a lifetime asset. no one can get it from you. even you lost your 800k, at least you have your college diploma and can earn $800k. so my suggestion is you go in the university and take up a business course. may i just ask. why do you have that big amount? can you give me the 5% of that? joke!!!

Absolutely get a degree first. You may think that $800, 000 dollars is a lot of money...which it is...but living a leisurly life will deplete it quickly.A degree will give you not just something to fall back on, but expierience. It doesn't matter what degree you get (unless its like art or something) it's the knowledge you'll recive afterwords.Try going for a bussiness degree in a 4-year university. That way you'll know what to do if you do want to start a bussiness, and they'll teach you all the necessary skills for that career.After taxes every year, and with the unstable U.S. economy, that 800k will fly away quicker than you think. it's wiser to go to a university just for the expierience if for nothing else.It will open your eyes, and once you've expierienced a taste of what bussiness is really like (they do have internships at most universities) you'll know for sure what you want to do then.Think of the future, not the present.

Here's a real answer. First ask yourself how important is "big money" to you. If you want to be fabulously wealthy here's how to do it. build a big business and incorporate it. As crazy as it sounds the laziest people in the world, make the most amount of money. And they do it by owning a majority stake in a corporation they started. All you have to do is find a product the public needs in their life and provide that product for a price. Not wants, needs. Want to make more? Just make sure that product has low starting over head, and that people really really need it. That's all I can go into for now. So I'll just say this. I'm in the same shoes you are. Just 23.About a year ago my friend had a great idea for a business so I came on board with him. We just got a $900k loan from a bank for just our idea. That's all you have to do. Question is, a) do you really have it in you?b) can you take on the task of building a business?c) do you really want to be that rich?My advice is start breaking your money up into sections and looking for sound investments around your area that aren't suggested by your financial advisers. Sit down with them and explain that mutual funds and CD's are a waste of time to you. Because they all are, trust me. Ask them to give you a list of decent stocks, or businesses around the area that are small, but local. That way you know what's going on with your investment when ever you want. I ve been to college, got a degree worked in the workforce and guess where Iam now? I just started my own business. I did this because owning your own business allows you the freedom to still do the things you enjoy doing with out a boss breathing down your back giving you your lousy two weeks out of the year yadayadayada.... I think what I learned in college is very minimal to what I have learned about myself by starting my own business. College will always be there and you can fall back on that...The key to the business world is being on the front end of the wave like real estate was a few years back...Just make sure you know what you need to have saved for retirement and continue to invest it properly..If interested and you live in So. California I'm looking for a few good people that I need to hire and train to own their own business. cost is less than $100 to get started... Just thought I'd throw that our there lol... Good luck
