| You do not need to have a domain name. It only takes a few minutes and you are set up and blogging and they will give you a domain. If you want to use your own (and you have one) you can direct it to the blog address. |

u need to have a domain name for your blog so that it can be identified independently on blogger...for example : if you want to name your blog smith........then ur address would be....http://smith.blogspot.comthis helps blogger differentiate between you and rest of the world.... and you can also name your blog anything....but the url of your blog would always remain the one u chose...for example here we have http://smith.blogspot.comand about your identity....u can choose any name... the blogger would publish your comments by that name only.... or you can merge it with your gmail account as is the trend these days...it will automatically pick ur name from there as your identity...then u have to only chosse a name for your blog |

| You can create a blog using the free domain name but....I recommend that you get your own domain name. It will cost around $2-$8 per year. The reason for this is that if your blog becomes popular and decided to expand, you will not lose the name. Using a free name is not only unprofessional, you will not be in complete control of the blog. Getting a name at that point will be like starting from scratch and you will lose a lot of traffic.Another advantage is that once you want to move, with your own name it will be easier. The free name cannot be moved.Let me know when your blog is up. I wanna see it. :-)http://www.synapticoverload.com |

| You don't have to have your own domain, as when you subscribe to blogger you get a subdomain on blogspot.com (for example). It works similarly for livejournal and wordpress.comSo basically, people will be able to access your blog at the URL http://you.blogspot.comWhere you is your user name you log into your blogspot account. Is it better to have your own domain name? Obviously yes. People are likely to remember yourdomain.com rather than you.blogspot.com, but if your blog's interesting you can have a good amount of visitors even without your own domain name.By the way, don't subscribe for a free domain, as those sites generate tonnes of ads, which will annoy your visitors. |
