| you've heard enough of the nadine haobsh blog fiasco and how she got busted from her job as a beauty editor. so it will be no surprise if some companies will start questioning future and current employees if they're keeping a blog or other online journals on the web. | Nope... It's like curtailing the freedom of expression which is vital for the proper ordering of a free society. It is fundamental in the sense that the Bill of Rights is fundamental or the Declaration of the Rights of Man is fundamental. In fact, companies should have the right attitude and encourage blogging and award good bloggers and channelise this vast medium, with its plethora of critical comments and observations, to rectify their own drawbacks...! |

| Employers are always looking for new ways to can bad employees and not have to pay severence or unemployment. If an employee is telling corporate secrets, or slamming a business and opening it up to lawsuits from employees, free firing.Get wise people, the major corporations are already off shoring a percentage of your jobs. Quit giving them excuses to remove even more. |

| I don't see the need. Other policies can cover the problems with blogging. Most of the time, a blog is a problem because the blogger either shares information they are not supposed to share, or because the blogger in some way demonstrates within their blog a blatant disrespect for their jobs. With most jobs being "at will", employees can be fired for any reason at any time. Therefore they have a responsibility to not allow their blog to be a detriment to their employers or risk losing their job. For those under contract, there is usually a 'conduct' clause already in place that covers the problem. |
