Actually I really like that idea. There are too many aspiring authors out there that don't have a clue what they're doing

I would say go for it. But if you are a victim of your own stupid mistake of not following the regulations, then forget it.

It is a very dangerous area to get into unfortunately. There is liability involved and the possibility of litigation. There are many sites already doing things about publishing scams and believe me, they get threatened with litigation regularly. The best is Preditors and Editors. If you have had problems, it is always wise to write to Dave K and give him the details so he can include it on his site. Then you can also post at Absolute Write Water Cooler's Bewares and Background Checks. Those two sites get a tremendous amount of traffic and if you really want to get the word out to help others, those are the places to post. If you want to go it alone and blog also, this is America and you can post what you want, but you have to be very careful of how you word things and be aware that you can be sued. AW and P&E know all about that. I got involved in the battle against publishing scams when I myself got burned. Now, I usually hear about all of them. I get letters all the time. I am aware of Lulu's problems, but I have never heard of anyone having a problem with Penguin Group. They are quite well known and generally reputable. Could you send me info on what happened with them? LOVE to hear. Perhaps I can help you. ----They're, Their, There - Three Different Words.Careful or you may wind up in my next novel. Pax - C

Ah, another one. Many scam artists target writers by sending e-mails saying their from well known publishers or work with them. Congratulations, you've been a scam victim. Just block their e-mail address and avoid them at all cost. They could mask your computer (steal your IP), etc. Don't communicate with them again! If you want a real publisher try about.com
