I am going to Lease a home from someone and the realtor wants me to sighn a buyers agent agreement.. She said if I lease the house I need to pay $150 to her. I asked her I thought the seller pays a fee to you for renting the home, she said they do but since it's a lease I have to pay for some processing fee. Am I getting ripped off?

Don't sign it. It's a line of bs. If you threaten to go elsewhere it will piss off the seller/landlord and she knows it. She's bluffing you.

Most things are negotiable in real estate. Seller's agent often pays the renter's agent from the listing commission. Ask your agent to show you the listing information that shows what the owner is paying the renter's agent. Is there a listing on MLS? It is all about DISCLOSURE! Always ask, ask, and ask until you are satisfied. You can also ask the agent's brokers to explain if you do not understand. One might be interested to know what the listing agent is paying the buyer's agent. You can also contact the local board of Realtors or the state agency involved for consumer information. There might be an application and credit check fee. That might be what you are talking about.

Sounds like a desperate realtor(tm) trying to make an extra buck in this pathetic real estate market.This agent cannot make you pay for something after the fact, unless you're stupid enough to agree to it, and you know you're not stupid. It would be a different story if you agreed to a buyer's fee up front, of course.By the way, what's so special about a lease that necessitates processing beyond what a rental agreement requires? The only difference between a rental agreement and a lease is that a lease has an end date printed on it, and a rental agreement does not. If you want a good laugh, ask this agent what the extra processing entails.
