I do a lot of architechual work in the military and real estate on the side. My business idea is to measure / obtain all dimensions for a customers house (exterior and interior) and draw up floor plans for them-- creating a visual aid and potentally an edge on selling the home. It will be marketed toward realtors and sellers to show to buyers. I would charge a flat fee for my work.

I don't think with the recession and low real estate sales - this will be a good business idea. Start up companies needs cash flow and the current economic factors will just not allow it.Good Luck! Diamondhttp://www.webultima.com/

Hmm, this idea has potential. There have been times when a floor plan would have worked in talking to a prospective buyer and it definitely would have helped coming from the seller. Definitely would have been better than talking about square footage (that's one topic to make your insomnia go away!)My suggestion: Run your idea past a couple realtors and investors. This may be something that could be a winner.Good luck!

I have to agree.... a consultative business helping potential homeowners devise floor plans from either their heads... or an adaptation of a magazine floor plan..DEFINITELY sounds like a workable idea.....Good Luck!!
