My husband and I are meeting with our realtor tomorrow to work up an offer for a home we want to buy. How does our offer get presented to the sellers? I'm just curious....is it done face-to-face or over in another setting? This is our first home, so I'm not to certain about how this is going to work.Of course I'll ask my realtor tomorrow what is going to happen, but I wanted to do some research beforehand just out of curiosity. Your Realtor will give the offer to the listing agent. If your Realtor is also the listing broker, he/she will present it to the seller. Typically, the listing broker will call the seller to tell them they have an offer. They will usually ask for how much and the details. If they are still interested, they will come in to sign and accept the offer or they will come in and sign a counter offer. However, if they don't like the offer at all, they can verbally decline it without ever coming in. In Colorado, our contracts have a signature line for sellers to sign saying they declined the offer, but they are not required to sign that. Hope this answers everything! Customs actually vary by location. Many areas are exactly like the first answer suggests (the listing agent presents the offer to the seller), however in some locations the buyer's agent actually presents their offer to the seller with the seller's agent being present and then discussing (buyer's agent leaves after presenting) with the seller. Depending on the seller's situation (if they're out of state or such) it could be presented over the phone or via the internet. Your REALTOR will tell you what the custom is in your area.Good Luck.

there are a couple of different ways to present an offer to a seller. One, after the offer is signed by you and your husband your Realtor will present it to the other agent who is representing the seller and then it is presented to the seller. The other method is called "round table" where all parties are present to present the offer. This method is uncommon in the US and more common in Canada. As a Realtor I always deal Realtor to Realtor.
