I am attending an installation dinner for our local board of Realtors dubbed "Havana Nights." The event names the dress style "Resort Evening Attire". I know this does not mean tuxedos..but what would be the appropiate type of suit and/or colors to wear?

Think of the word resort, casual and comfortable, then think of evening attire, semi formal, put the two together. Look for casual but sharp suits made from, linen, or cotton blends. Any variety of winter white or beige will do. No tie, but a crisp shirt with a one button jacket, single breast and loose fitting. Shoes should be light in color, no white, but no black either. Have fun with color but stay clean and crisp.

I would consider this as similar to "party semi-formal" - nice slacks and non-business style (possibly patterned or multi-colored) button-down shirt with no tie or a dress (non-work colored) tie.Think about what you would wear to a nightclub in the Carribean on Friday evening and you'll be close.
