I had some money problems....(lost my job) and ended up almost getting my house foreclosed on. I now got myself back up on my feet and prevented it from foreclosing on, but now my payments are horendous!! I cannot afford them.....so the question is....what can I do?? I have bad credit...so getting a refinance is difficult. Any ideas of how I can lower my payments, or get out of this mess??

My advice for you is first and foremost you got to try hard to get another job, then talk sincerely with your creditors and explain your situation and tell them how sorry are you about not able to meet your financial commitment.Propose to them a smaller installment and a longer term, inform them that it is your intention to pay and not default the payment. Do not try to hide away from your creditors. this is a sure way to lose everything that you have.Facing the challenges face on will get you a better results. normally creditors preferred not to go for foreclosing. they would prefer to restructure your loan. Talk to them and maybe you can get some loan from your close friends and family to help you ride out this storm. But remember you have to get a job and work hard on it so that you can service all your payment

My idea is getting some kind of debt management help, so that they can work with you and help you achieve something do-able. My experience with the debt management company's is that they are very nice (although some aren't) They can work with you and find a plan that can suit your needs. Just an idea...

no that is a tight corner..the house you are talking about is it owned by you or are you renting? if its owned by you hand it over to the bank and let them sieze it from you that way they deal with the debt..im not sure how applicable that is for you since i live in the uk...i would say then get a cheap appartment or house very cheap not too much because you dont want to be in an unsafe area but its better you humble yourself for a few months or year until you can afford to pay off some of your bad debt...even see if you can stay with a close friend who understands the situation...next see some of your things have a garage sale or sell some stuff on ebay to make some money...or even ask a good friend for some money but do make it clear that you cant pay them back anytime soo because you dont want a falling out or misunderstanding and make sure you get it on paper...next i can think of is stop shopping for clothes and expensive things go for cheap food..right now make your priority purely on buying food nothing else if its someones birthday give them something you have in your house or make them something..i know its cheap but come on its better you get out of this situation because why spend so much money on them and when you need help you find they just want to focus on their problems than help...people are selfish believe that...
