my dad needed a 65k loan to buy a business, but the bank of america would only give him a 1/3 of that. The corporate headquarters of the franchise referred us to a financial group. we thought we would be getting a loan directly from them. But it turns out that they were brokers, and they're going to charge 10% of the credit lines once we accept. They went to at least 4 different banks for loans to equal the 65k we would need.We now have to call each bank directly to accept the terms, but we can't mention that we're working with brokers because [and i quote] "Banks do not like brokers, period."I'm just wondering what my dad is going to be paying 10% for if all they did was submit applications to all these banks, and we have to pay each bank directly.

Try refinancing the house. You can get the 66K at one-stop shopping and a lower interest rate. Screw those brokers.

Your dad will be paying 10% for someone to arrange the money you wanted. It would seem that you could have saved the 10% by doing your own leg work. I *think* you will find that your father signed a contract that he must honor.Traditionally money brokers arrange financing when you have exhausted the avenues open to you. Just thank your lucky stars that financing was available from banks @ bank interest, going private usually doubles the interest rate (and still costs 10%).
