I'm looking into traveling there, but I have no idea what city to stay in. I usually like to look into staying at a vacation rental since it's usually cheaper. Also if anyone knows of any good hostels there, please let me know.

Well, how long are you planing on staying in Puerto Rico? Puerto Rico is very nice to visit if you know the right places to go. You should stay in either Rincon, San Juan, or Juana Diaz.

San Juan is the capital and the one with the most to do in the the immediate area. However, it's also the most expensive. If cheaper is better, check out Rincon and Ponce.

If you are looking for night entretaiment stay in the metro area, San Juan or Carolina (Isla Verde). If willing to travel and see places try Rincon at the west, Ponce in the south or Fajardo in the east coast. For cheaper vacation rental check the Paradores of PR all over the island. Hotels? Many to choose from.

Well, it all depends what you want to do. If you like to explore the east side, you might want to stay in Fajardo, from there you can drive to Rio Grande and explore the El Yunque Rain Forest, visit the beautiful beaches such as "Luquillo" and Seven Seas in Fajardo. You also can drive towards Naguabo and Humacao to the "Malecon". From Fajardo you also can take a ferry to visit the islands of Vieques (Beautiful Bio-bays to see at night) and Culebra (3rd most beautiful beach ranked by Travel Channel "Playa Flamenco".Check out this hotel. It is very nice.www.fajardoinn.com
