A travel agent offers two package vacation plans. The first plan costs $400 and includes 3 days at a hotel and a rental car for 2 days. The second plan costs $550 and includes 4 days at a hotel and a rental car for 3 days. The daily charge for the room is the same under each plan, as is the daily charge for the car. Find the cost per day for the room and for the car. (Please show your system of equations and answer the question in a complete sentence.)Thank You so much for the help!

OK, since the cost of the hotel and the cost of the car per day are the same in both equations, let's call the daily room rate "x" and the daily car rate "y". So for the first equation:3x + 2y = 400and the second:4x + 3y = 500That should be enough to get you started - you can solve for both x and y with these equations.

using a simultaneous equation:take the car as c and the room as r:three days at a hotel and two days car rental = $400=> 3r+2c=400four days at a hotel and three days rental car=$550=>4r+3c=5503r+2c=400 [x3]4r+3c=550 [x2]____________9r+6c=12008r+6c=1100subtract=r=100, therefore the room per day costs $100put r = 100 into the equation 3r+2c=400:3x100 +2c=400=> 2c= 400-300=>c=50therefore the car rental per day costs $50.hope that helps.

Let x be cost of hotel, and y by cost of carthen3x + 2y = 4004x + 3y = 550solving for x and ychanging the first eq to2y = 400 - 3xmultiply second eq by 2 gives8x + 6y = 1100substitute for y gives8x + 3(400 - 3x) = 11008x + 1200 - 9x = 1100x = 100then y = (400 - 3x)/2 = (400 - 300)/2 = 50
