I'm with State Farm, Arkansas. What would be covered by the way of theft. Such as an ATV chained up under my carport. Also power tools locked up in cabnets. Basic plolicy, home and contents. Fishing boat chained to tree out back.

Try reading the policy. That is why they gave you a copy.

I'm not sure how your state differs from mine, Mass. But out here your home ins. does not cover anything they consider a small engine. ATV, Dirt bikes, Lawn mowers, boats, etc. even if they are chained up on the property. This law may differ in your state but out here they don't cover if any of the above are stolen or damages. Sorry i hope you have better luck, My sons dirt bike was stolen from my shed and the ins will not cover it. I am still paying on it.!!

Policies vary greatly, even within a company and location. You can add a rider for whatever is not covered.

This question can be best addressed by your insurance agent. Call them and have them send you the information you are seeking.

Your ATV and boat should have its own insurance. ATVs would be put under Auto and there is separate boat insurance. As for your tools, if they are locked in a cabinet, it should be covered under contents. As long as you don't constantly have them travelling with you, say if you were a carpenter or something.

you need to ask your agent that question, as your policy could completely exclude theft coverage - BUT, generally the homeowners policy excludes theft of watercraft and all associated equipment (motor, trailer, etc) and recreational vehicles. Power tools - it depends on if it's personal use, or business use. The standard homeowners policy has a limitation of coverage, of $250 for business use equipment & furnishings.

I've handled a lot of home insurance claims and most people really don't have a clue what is and is not covered. Most policies provide BASIC coverage for some things and no coverage for other things.Of the things you mentioned:Theft coverage will not cover things that are not covered under the homeowners policy. ATV's and Boats are not usually covered because they will not meet the definitions defined in the policy. It REALLY behooves you to read the policy, BTW. It's quite enlightening. There may be coverage for the power tools but the coverage may be limited to a specific amount unless you have the items scheduled for their worth. (You usually want to schedule items worth more than the policy covers - jewelry, expensive flatware, etc)If you do not have a Replacement Cost Value (RCV) policy - anything that IS covered will only be covered at ACTUAL COST Value (ACV) . This turns out to be a BIG deal when you have to go out and replace those items and it usually makes a lot of people mad when they find out they only have ACV.I would strongly recommend that if you don't have RCV and you can afford it? Buy it. When/If you have a theft, it makes a difference when you have to get those items replaced.Goodluck!

Your ATV wouldn't be covered under your homeowner's insurance, you need to have seperate insurance on your ATV. The fishing boat might be covered, depends on length, width, etc. Check with your agent. Power tools are generally covered, although there might be a limit. READ YOUR POLICY!!!
