Ok, my major dilemma. My lease is up at my apt. complex. I am thinking of either staying there and continuing to pay rent UNTIL I graduate in May OR I am wondering if I should move back home (1 hour drive away) and finish up the rest of my schooling simply by commuting 4 days a week? What do you think I should do? I am honestly thinking about going home and saving rent money, but is the drive and time worth it?Let me know what you think! Thanks!!!I left out major details. I pay 475 rent plus all utilities approx. 615/mo and I drive a Honda Accord.Plus I pay a babysitter $400/mo to watch the baby, but no $ if I move home because Grandma will watch him.*We get along ok, but we are both high-anxiety, type- a personalities...Sorry for the lack of details, I am at work right now.

8 hours of driving a week vs paying hundreds of dollars in rent??? I would go back home if you dont mind living with your family.

I'm translating an hour into 60 miles which makes about 500 miles a week .You gave no clues about your vehicle but for a common one , that would be about $300 a month gas plus oil, tires and other maintenance .How much is your rent ?This is real life math .Add up your costs renting and moving home .Compare and see if it is worth it .>

The first thing I would do is the math involved. Figure out if the savings in rent would be more than your increased costs for commuting. Also, many apartments (I've been in the apartment industry for 10 years now) have fees for breaking a lease of which you were probably told, but may have forgotten about. If you can't sign a lease that would expire when you finish school (leases less than 12 months generally cost a little more if you live in a place that even allows them) you may end up subject to more costs than you were counting on. At the community I work at now you are required to give a 30-day notice as well as pay at least one month rent as a fee for breaking your lease. Read your lease thoroughly and see what the penalties would be, then figure that into your costs. You'll probably find that commuting will be cheaper in the long run.

A 1 hour drive, yeah I think it's worth it. If your cars not a gas guzzler. Just re adjust you normal routine. It will be tough at first just getting use to it but I think the money you save will be worth it. Then again how well do you get along with your folks?

Im sure you wont spend all the money you would have paid towards rent in gas. I would move home and save some money.

This is an easy one. Move home! You could really set yourself up nice by saving all that money while you're finishing school. You could buy you and your child a nice little home once you graduate and have a good job. I would've loved to have had that option! Consider yourself lucky.

Stay until you graduate..it will be harder to get to school...you will be commuting 2hrs a day (there and back) so less time w/ your baby. It will be ok until may then you can go where ever you want! Heck i drove 30min to school daily and that was hard, I can not imagine driving 1hr....Good Luck.
