A federal appeals court in San Francisco threw out the Bush administration's new fuel-economy standards for sport-utility vehicles, minivans, and pick up trucks, ruling that the standards were not tough enough. check out this sitehttp://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=16350047

I didn't expect anything different from the most obviously liberal city in America! They probably ruled this way just to spite Bush

The federal court in San Francisco has always been weird. How is it that they can overturn a law? This is another example of the courts trying to write laws which isn't there job.

Dont need to(heard the story on Limbaugh). You do realize that the supreme court threw it out because it didnt have all SUV's like Hummers etc in the original plan.Thats why the didnt approve it.I myself think its stupid anyway, just another bunch of liberals wanting to control our lives and spending on what we want to purchase. They cry about fuel prices, yet they tie our hands to go after our own oil reserves.Meanwhile the Chinese,Mexico,Venezuela are doing just that, finding and tapping there reserves,And exploiting every barrel they find.

Great! This is showing the sytem of checks and balances in force! Bush and Cheney tend to act like they can run free rampage, doing whatever they want.Whenever one group--Executive, Legislative, or Judical--seem to need a reality check, that's where the system of checks and balances come into place. It was the Supreme Court that decided that "Seperate But Equal" wasn't right, so demanding tougher fuel standards, while maybe not an "Earth Shattering Event," is no less important.
