In the US, it's illegal to use a social security number for any other reason than to deduct taxes or pay out social security benefits.So why isn't the law enforced?

They should make it mandatory that all credit cards, check cards,medicaid cards and any other type of plastic require you to have a picture of yourself on the back.

The proposed national ID would go a long way in making this crime extremely difficult to commit - but this idea has met with a surprising amount of opposition from people who fear it would be an intrusion of their personal lives. (All of the information needed is already easily accessed data to a great number of government as well as consumer organizations - go figure)
