| I have big dreams of fame , success and fortune. Unfortunately I live in Vicksburg , Mississippi. My life has been shaped by my mom's horrible financial decisions early in my life. We're not POOR, mind you, but we're not rich. I have a high school diploma and am currently working two jobs in food service. I look at my family and see nothing but worker ants with no dreams or ambitions for something greater . I don't want to be like that.I want to be an animator but I can't go to school for it.Can't afford it. I don't have the means to get the amounts of money I need. I have no credit ,Student loans are out ot the question, and I'll be an old man simply saving what meager wages I earn. Even my plan to move to Florida might meet with certain failure. I can't see myself as a worker ant for the rest of my life.Is it hopeless? Am I doomed because my dreams are too big? |

| You're NOT Doomed! It may take time but only when you surrender to your circumstances/choices or lack of them have you been defeated by life and by yourself. You're gonna choose a medium and a way to make it work - doesn't matter if you're drawing stick figures in the corner of a pad of paper & scanning page after page, you haven't given up. Keep a sketchpad with you all the time, doodle and make notes for your stories. If you're trying to combine your notes on computer keep them on a flashdrive/thumbdrive so they don't get ruined on a compuuter you're using. And take in as many animation workshops, comic conventions, movies where they are specifically showing something with amateur ideas like the "Spike & Mike Animation Shows" which had travelled through Texas a few times.Don't blame mom; things happen when trying to get us (their children) through life. Don't give up; without trying you'll never learn your limitations. Don't look back and gripe - anger does nothing productive. Find your slice of life & joy and success then you'll know it's yours' and yours' alone.Jaime |
