On the Market: Own a Piece of Quintessential San Francisco

November 24, 2010 in Uncategorized

15 Napier is a 2-bed, 2-bath single-family home that was just put on the market with an asking price of $1,295,000. It’s among a small group of Telegraph Hill homes from the second half of the 19th century that survived the 1906 earthquake and fire. The house is on a wooden alley connected to the Filbert Steps and is surrounded by the Grace Merchant Garden, home to awesome native plants and the parrots of Telegraph Hill. The house was remodeled in 2002 and 2003, bringing the kitchen and baths up to date with today’s fancypants standards.

Come and Get Your Dog Parks: For more than half a decade…

November 24, 2010 in Uncategorized

11-19-10dog.jpgFor more than half a decade a portion of SoMa has been noisy and unpleasant due to the $471,000,000 undertaking to retrofit the western approach of the Bay Bridge. To help ease local residents through the process, $4,000,000 was set aside for public improvements, including a dog park at Beale and Bryant streets. On Wednesday, the funds were allocated for the landscaping upgrades. The site will eventually feature two dog areas: one for big and one for small dogs. There will also be watering holes and a slew of green space. [SF Examiner]

Back on the Market: Group 41 House Quickly Put Back on Market

November 24, 2010 in Uncategorized

Ah, yes. The woes of 465 Hoffman, the 4-bed, 4.5-bath, 4,500 square foot mega contemporary abode in Noe Valley. It was designed by Group 41 and then plopped on the market in May of 2009 with an asking price of $3,900,000. Shoot forward to early February of this year and it was significantly reduced to $3,000,000, a $900,000 chop. One month later it sold, but for $2,970,0000. Well, folks, now it’s back, and for $666 a square foot, or $2,995,000. Why the quick sale? Why do the current owners think they’ll make $25,000 after being handed the keys less than a year ago? If any tipsters have information, please email us or leave a comment.

The board overseeing the redevelopment of Treasure Island is seeing major changes, courtesy of one lame-duck Mayor Newsom.Newsom has not only gotten rid of the only TI resident on the board, he’s replaced him with a non-resident son of a plumbers union boss. Treasure Island residents are concerned that many of the new board members will not have heard their concerns going into decision time this spring. On the docket: the redevelopment plan itself and certification of the environmental impact report. [Way Out West]

Haighteration reports today that the prospective tenant for 400 Divisadero is Chase Bank. Many in the neighborhood have already complained that this “super tenant” was going to be kicking out shops that specialized in truffles and cheese, and we can only wonder how they expect that to go over in the court of public opinion. Voice your opinion (if you live in the hood) at tonight’s NOPNA meeting, and we’re sure the many local bloggers will report on the ensuing sh**show. [Haighteration]

More High-Speed Rail Woes: "I’m not willing to risk all…

“I’m not willing to risk all that for high-speed rail,” Katz said. Citing the various, more local projects he’s involved in, Los Angeles transportation official Richard Katz is stepping down from the state panel overseeing development of California’s high-speed rail system. He and another lightning-fast bureaucrat, High-Speed Rail Authority Chairman Curt Pringle, have been under pressure to leave the authority as opponents seek to undermine our ability to go to LA for lunch and be back in time to pick the kids up from school anytime in the near future.
